The Napkinisms Story

It was late in 2015 that I began posting the lunch box notes I write to my kids every morning to Instagram. A couple of weeks later, Napkinisms kind of went viral. People started liking, sharing, posting, commenting, and even creating messages of their own and posting them to my page. To date, hundreds of thousands of people have now seen and shared "Napkinisms," and momentum continues to build around this silly idea. Why is that?

Well, first of all, I'm pretty sure it has very little to do with me. I think it's because people like to smile. Everyone needs to be encouraged and inspired and reminded of moments in their lives when someone took the time to brighten their day, and these more often than not ridiculous notes have hit on a universal need we all have to feel special - if only for a moment.

In 2016, the #napkinisms community provided close to 3,000 messages that I scribbled on napkins and sent in lunches to children in need through the Chick-fil-A Foundation and Action MinistriesAnd, you know what? It's kind of a big deal when a group of individuals from all over the country comes together to do something small. So, on behalf of me, my family, and all those smiling kids who got your notes this summer, THANK YOU!

Stay tuned to the site for updates on what’s next. We're going to do some cool stuff this summer, too! In the meantime, keep looking for daily ridiculousness from my kids’ lunch boxes, and please keep sharing your own messages and notes. It's great fun to be a part of your creativity.

Thanks, again.
